Basic knowledge of anchor flanges

Anchor flange is a connecting flange for piping system, which is characterized by an additional fixed support structure, which can fix the piping system, prevent displacement or wind pressure during use, and is usually used in high pressure, high temperature, Piping systems with large diameters or long spans.

The size and pressure rating of anchor flanges are usually the same as other types of flanges, and they all comply with the EN1092-1 standard. The specific size and pressure rating can be selected according to the requirements of the piping system.

The size of the anchor flange includes flange diameter, number of holes, hole diameter, bolt hole size, etc., which are usually the same as other types of flanges. According to EN1092-1 standard, the size range of anchor flange is from DN15 to DN5000, and the pressure grade range is from PN2.5 to PN400.

The supporting structure and seals of the anchor flange also need to be selected according to the requirements of the piping system. For example, the length and shape of the supporting structure should be able to meet the design requirements of the piping system, and have sufficient strength and rigidity to bear the weight and force of the piping system. The selection of seals should consider factors such as the medium and working temperature of the piping system to ensure reliable sealing.

In addition, it should be noted that since anchor flanges are usually used in high-pressure, high-temperature, large-diameter or long-span piping systems, when selecting the size and pressure level, a reasonable selection should be made according to the actual situation, and ensure that the anchor flange Performance and security meet the requirements.

Anchor flanges usually consist of three parts: flange body, anchor support structure and seals.

Flange body: The flange body of the anchor flange is usually the same as other types of flanges, including neck butt welding flanges, blind flanges, threaded flanges, etc. The flange body has some extra holes and threads for connection with supporting structures and piping.

Anchor support structure: The anchor support structure is an important part of the anchor flange, which can support the pipeline system and be fixedly connected with the flange body through bolts and nuts. Generally, the anchor support structure includes anchor rods, anchor plates, anchors and other components.

Seals: The seals for anchor flanges are generally the same as for other types of flanges, including flat washers, raised washers, metal washers, etc. The job of the seal is to prevent the piping system from leaking at the connection.

When using anchor flanges to connect piping systems, it is necessary to install a support structure on one side of the piping system and an anchor flange on the other side to secure the two parts together with bolts and nuts. The special structure of the anchor flange can make the pipeline system have better stability and wind pressure resistance, and is suitable for occasions that need to fix the pipeline system, such as large chemical plants, power stations, oil and gas pipelines, etc.

It should be noted that when installing the anchor flange, it is necessary to select the appropriate anchor support structure and seals according to the characteristics of the pipeline system and the use environment, and ensure that the anchor flange connection is firm and the seal is reliable, so as to ensure the normal operation and safety of the pipeline system safety.
