What is Lap Joint Flange

Lap Joint flange is a commonly used flange connection product. It consists of two parts: the flange body and the collar.

The flange body is usually made of carbon steel, stainless steel, alloy steel, and other materials, while the collar is usually made of carbon steel or stainless steel. The two parts are connected by bolts.

Performance:

1. Loose connection: Due to the loose flange connection method, a certain loose effect can be achieved, which helps to reduce the accumulation of stress and pressure caused by temperature changes. Therefore, it has good durability in high temperature, high pressure, and high vibration environments.
2. Easy disassembly: The lap joint flange collar can be easily disassembled, which eliminates the need to disassemble the entire flange connection in case of inspection, maintenance, or replacement of the pipeline, saving time and labor costs.

3. Connection with various pipelines: Loose flange can be connected to various types of pipelines, such as welded pipes, threaded pipes, and plug-in pipes.

The size and pressure rating of the Lap Joint flange usually comply with standards, such as ASME B16.5, ASME B16.47, etc. Its size range is from 1/2 inches to 60 inches, and the pressure rating range is from 150 # to 2500 #.

Characteristics:

1. Able to withstand high temperature, high pressure, and high vibration environments.
2. Convenient disassembly and replacement of pipelines.
3. Suitable for various types of pipeline connections.

Advantages:

1. Corrosion prevention: the use of the collar can prevent the pipe from directly contacting the flange material, thus reducing the risk of corrosion.
2. Strong practicality: Easy to disassemble, suitable for pipeline systems that require frequent inspection and maintenance.
3. Economical and practical: Compared with other types of flanges, loose flange has a lower cost.

Disadvantages:

1. There are a large number of flange connecting fasteners, which require a certain amount of time and manpower for installation.
2.Compared to other types of flanges, the risk of leakage is slightly higher due to the loose connection.

Application scope:

Loose flanges are widely used in pipeline systems in petroleum, chemical, power, ship, natural gas and other industrial fields, especially in high temperature and high pressure working environments. It is commonly used to connect steam and liquid pipelines, cooling water systems, heating systems, and occasions that require frequent maintenance and replacement of pipelines.
